Unresolved referrals
Find orders where referral evidence disagrees in EarnKit, why no referrer is paid, and how to answer customer questions about them.
Last reviewed
EarnKit can gather more than one kind of evidence that a referral happened, such as a referral link visit and a shared discount code. Occasionally that evidence disagrees about who referred a customer. When it does, nobody is paid, and the order is recorded so you can answer a customer who asks about it.
Where to find it
- Go to Activity.
- Choose Advanced, then Unresolved referrals.
What you’ll see
The page lists orders under Orders where referral evidence disagreed, with a column for the order, its state, why the evidence disagreed, and which kinds of evidence were involved:
- App capture (referral link): a visit recorded from a referral link.
- Shopify journey: Shopify’s own record of how the customer arrived.
- Discount code: a shared discount code used at checkout.
Good to know
- EarnKit never guesses between two referrers. If the evidence on one order names different people, the order is left unresolved and no referral is paid on it.
- A conflict is different from evidence that simply arrives late. Evidence that turns up after a referral has already been decided is recorded for reference, but it does not reopen or change a payment that was already made.
- No customer names, referral codes, or referrer identities appear on this page. It only names the order and the shape of the disagreement.
- If nothing has ever conflicted, the page says so and explains what would appear here.
