How customers redeem points
How customers exchange available points for a reward code on their Rewards page and use it at checkout.
Last reviewed
Customers redeem their points from their own rewards page, without any involvement from you.
What customers see
- On their rewards page, customers select Redeem to see the rewards they can afford, under Choose a reward.
- Selecting a reward shows what it costs and what it’s worth, with a button labeled Redeem for [amount] points.
- After redeeming, the customer sees their new reward code under Your new reward code.
- All of a customer’s reward codes are listed under Your reward codes, each marked Getting ready, Ready to use, or Used.
A newly redeemed reward may show Getting ready while its code is being created. Reloading the Rewards page after a moment shows its current status. If EarnKit confirms that code creation failed, it returns the points.
Customers apply their code at checkout like any other discount code.
Good to know
- A customer can’t redeem a reward they can’t afford; EarnKit tells them how many points it costs and whether they’ve started earning yet.
- If a reward is turned off or removed after a customer has already redeemed it, their code still works.
- Redemption never takes a customer’s balance negative: the database checks their balance at the moment they redeem.
