Shopify’s current customer accounts
Why EarnKit needs Shopify’s current customer accounts: it’s where customers see their points and redeem rewards.
Last reviewed
EarnKit needs your store to use Shopify’s current customer accounts. That’s where customers find the Rewards page, where they see their points, receive or claim welcome points, save their birthday for future automatic awards, get their referral link and redeem rewards. You can still install EarnKit on legacy customer accounts, but your customers can’t view or redeem their points. Stores on legacy customer accounts are not supported.
Why it matters
The Rewards page, and the points shown on the Orders and Order status pages, only appear in current customer accounts. On legacy customer accounts they can’t appear at all, however they are set up, so customers can’t redeem the points they earn.
Points on product pages and the Thank you page, and referral link tracking, appear outside customer accounts. They don’t make the program usable on their own: customers still need the Rewards page to redeem.
Checking your setting
- Go to Onsite content in EarnKit.
- If your store is not on current customer accounts, a banner tells you and links to Open customer account settings in Shopify.
- Switch to current customer accounts there, then come back to finish setting up the Rewards page, the Orders page, or the Order status page.
Good to know
- EarnKit checks this for you. If it cannot check right now, it says so and pauses confirmation for the affected displays rather than guessing.
- Switching customer accounts is a Shopify setting, not something EarnKit changes for you.
