Install EarnKit

What happens when you install EarnKit: approving permissions and a plan, then opening the setup guide.

Installing EarnKit doesn’t change anything in your store on its own. It creates your program in EarnKit and opens the setup guide, where you choose everything yourself.

Before you start

You can install EarnKit on any store, but your customers can only view and redeem their points if your store uses Shopify’s current customer accounts. Check Requirements if you use legacy customer accounts, or if you’re unsure your store’s currency is supported.

What happens when you install

  1. You approve permissions. Shopify shows you the permissions EarnKit is asking for. Approving them completes the install.
  2. You approve a plan, if you don’t already have one. If your store doesn’t already have an EarnKit plan approved, Shopify shows you its plan-approval page before you continue. Approve a plan to proceed.
  3. EarnKit opens the setup guide. The first time you open EarnKit, you land on its welcome screen, then the setup guide: Choose your points rate and first reward, Give existing customers a starting balance, and Turn EarnKit on. See The setup guide.

What customers see

Nothing changes for customers when you install EarnKit. Points earning, the Rewards page, and every other customer-facing display are things you turn on yourself, one at a time, as you go through setup.

Good to know

  • If you leave the setup guide partway through, opening EarnKit again takes you back to the first step you haven’t finished.
  • You can revisit any setup step later to change what you chose.
