Turn on referral link capture

Enable the Storefront script app embed so referral visits are credited.

The Storefront script app embed is what connects a friend’s visit through a referral link to their later purchase. It adds nothing visible to your store.

Turning it on

  1. In EarnKit, go to Onsite content and open Referral tracking under Related setup. Choose the button that opens your theme editor. Shopify opens the editor’s App embeds panel with Storefront script switched on, as a preview. Nothing is live yet.
  2. Choose Save in the top right.

Referral links are recorded only after you save. Until then, a referred customer’s visit is not credited, and nothing warns you.

What customers see

Nothing. It runs quietly on every page and records the referral link a customer arrived on, so referrals can be credited once they buy.

Good to know

  • Referrals cannot be tracked at all while this embed is off, whatever else you have configured under Refer a Friend.
  • Turning it off later does not undo referrals already recorded. It only stops new visits from being captured.
