Definitions for EarnKit loyalty terms, including points, balances, pending points, eligible spending, rewards, referrals and reward codes.

Points
The currency of your loyalty program. Customers earn points from purchases and other ways to earn, and spend them on rewards.
Points balance
The customer’s recorded points balance, excluding pending points. This balance can be negative.
Pending points
Points a customer has earned that aren’t available to spend yet, because they’re still inside a pending period you’ve set. Pending points are shown separately from the customer’s balance and can’t be redeemed until they become available.
Available points
Points a customer can spend on a reward right now.
Eligible spending
The part of an order that earns points: the merchandise total after discounts, excluding shipping, tax, and gift cards.
Ways to earn
The actions that award a customer points, such as purchases, welcome points, birthday points, social follow points, and referrals.
Welcome points
A once-only award, added the first time a customer opens their Rewards page, or claimed there if you require claiming.
Reward
A discount a customer can get by spending their points. You set how many points a reward costs and what discount it gives.
Reward code
The single-use Shopify discount code EarnKit creates for a specific customer when they redeem a reward.
Redeem
What a customer does to exchange available points for a reward code.
Adjustment
A manual change to a customer’s points balance, made by you with a reason, separate from points earned or redeemed.
Refund reversal
Points taken back from a customer’s balance when an order that earned them is refunded. Canceling an order without refunding it doesn’t change its points.
Points activity
The record of changes to a customer’s points balance, including purchases, rewards, refunds and adjustments.
Referral
A friend’s purchase, made through a customer’s referral link, that earns the referring customer their referrer reward.
Referrer
The existing customer who shares a referral link.
Friend discount
The discount a referred friend gets on their first qualifying purchase.
Qualifying purchase
An order that meets your referral program’s rules, such as any minimum purchase amount, and so counts toward a referral.
Starting balance
Points given to a customer for past purchases or brought over from another loyalty program, rather than earned through EarnKit directly.
Rewards page
The page in a customer’s account where they see their points balance, choose rewards, share their referral link, and find their reward codes.
