Where customers see EarnKit
Every place EarnKit can appear for customers, and how to tell EarnKit a display is added.
Last reviewed
Installing EarnKit does not put anything in front of your customers by itself. Each place points or rewards can appear is a separate display you add yourself, in Shopify’s own editors. Onsite content is where you see all of them in one place.
Before you start
Customers can only view and redeem their points on Shopify’s current customer accounts, where the Rewards page appears. See Shopify’s current customer accounts.
Where to find it
Go to Onsite content in EarnKit. Displays are grouped by when a customer meets them:
- Your Rewards page: the featured card at the top. This is the only display a customer can navigate to directly; everything else shows points somewhere they were already going.
- While shopping: points shown on product pages.
- In customer accounts: points shown on the Orders page and the Order status page.
- After an order: points shown on the Thank you page.
- Related setup: referral link tracking, which adds nothing visible to your store.
Adding a display
- Choose any row on Onsite content to open its own setup page.
- Follow How to add it. Each step is written for the Shopify editor that display uses. The first step opens this guide in a new tab so it stays beside you, and the second holds the button that opens that editor.
- Once you’ve saved your change in that editor, EarnKit detects most displays on its own. For the Rewards page only, come back to its setup page and choose Menu link added under Then tell EarnKit once you’ve linked it from the customer account menu.
What each block is called
In Shopify’s checkout and customer accounts editor, the Apps panel lists every EarnKit block on every page, so each name says where it belongs:
| Block | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Rewards page | The customer account menu |
| Orders page balance | The Orders page in customer accounts |
| Order status points | The Order status page in customer accounts |
| Thank you page points | The Thank you page after checkout |
Points on product pages and referral link tracking are theme blocks, added in the theme editor instead, and EarnKit opens that editor with the block already in place.
Good to know
- EarnKit detects each display from Shopify’s own records. Added means EarnKit found it; Not added means it did not. For the Rewards page, EarnKit can confirm the page renders but cannot see the account-menu link, so you confirm that yourself with Menu link added on the Rewards page’s setup page.
- A display added to a draft theme does not count as added. EarnKit only reads your published theme, because that is what customers can actually see.
- Points on product pages need both the block added to your theme and purchase points turned on. The block shows nothing until both are true.
